Education and Poverty in Pakistan

Highlights of Poverty in Pakistan

The Poverty in Pakistan has become major issue, it is important to understand the basic reason of poverty in Pakistan and its effects on education in Pakistan system. Pakistan can’t deny this ground reality that millions of children are not going to school and million of mothers are unable to feed their children due to poverty. The poverty in Pakistan not only affects education system but also people living standards. The various reasons are to be found to increase ration of poverty in Pakistan as “Un-employment, Distribution of resources”.

Poverty in Pakistan
Poverty in Pakistan

Due to poverty in Pakistan millions of families are living under poverty line and can’t afford even basic education in Pakistan for their children and have to drop out during education in Pakistan, unable to pay fees and other responsibilities in other words millions of children have no access to get education in Pakistan as well. Although the government has constitutionally mandated free education in Pakistan, as stated by Article 25-A of the 18th Amendment in the Constitution, which reads, “The state shall provide free and compulsory educational to all children aged of five to 16 years..,” such promulgations are useless rhetorical charades until the state enacts a series of policies that directly target the specific reasons that prevent a child from attaining his or her constitutionally-mandated, non-negotiable right to a free education in Pakistan.

Monitoring the Education Policies

The Government should review the poverty in Pakistan and education in Pakistan policies because education and training are interlined with ratio of poverty in Pakistan, especially it needs to address in rural areas where girls are forced to stop educating. It has been observed that poor parents are taking help their children to spend seasonal farming or other work activities to face financial activities. Thousands of children have to go for crime due to situation of poverty in Pakistan.
Child Labor in Pakistan

Student Enrollment Rate

The Public education in Pakistan have bad situation in sense of student enrollment rates, in rural areas enrollment rates are decreasing with the passage of time each year and mostly it happens due to poverty in Pakistan. Millions of families are unable to spend extra coin. For example a poor family has to face suddenly an accident or emergency then may require a child to go for labor work instead of getting education in Pakistan and provide assistance accordingly, in such case child is going to take up new responsibilities for whole life.
Due to wrong distribution of financial resources and poverty in Pakistan, millions of families are unable to set their goals for future and prevent from any strategically planning. The true picture of poverty in Pakistan effects on education in Pakistan looks in internal Sindh and Baluchistan rural areas. Approximately above 90 percent children are not going to school in our tribal areas.

Role of Govt./NGOs/Educational Institutions/Media

Educational NGOs in Pakistan
Educational NGOs in Pakistan
In the end we are surprised to know that Pakistan has number of laws regarding protection of child rights and NGOs are working on it as well as on poverty but even then state has fails to deliver results accordingly. This is shocking for us that majority of people are living under poverty in Pakistan line then how it is possible to get education for all. Its responsibility of “The Government, Parents, NGOs, Educational Institutions and Media” to come forward and participate for children right of education in Pakistan. The Government will have to work for poverty policy because it is directly affecting education system in the society.

Challenges for Pakistan Teacher Education-Training and Development

Importance of Teacher Education and Training in Pakistan

Teacher’s education and knowledge is crucial and important in enhancing of student’s knowledge. All developed and less developed countries all over the world are trying to improve quality through capable educators with new techniques. Pakistan had to face such issues and now trying to create good environment for betterment in future, the quality depends upon the ability, knowledge, assessment and experience because we believe “Be the change you wish to see in the world”.

Current Challenges for Teachers in Pakistan

Teaching in Pakistan
Teaching in Pakistan
Due to poor culture and system, Pakistan has to face different challenges such as lack of process and consistent leaning policies throughout the history. Unfortunately the nation has to face different categories such as Islamic, Public and Private. The network of private system is expanding day by day. Public institutions are the main source to produce best and quality educators but should review the delivery mechanism.

The role of NGOs/Educational Institutions/Training Centers

NGOs in Pakistan Education
NGOs in Pakistan Education
NGOs are playing an important role to produce for this purpose all over the country. They are offering training centers and learning points to produce quality. The sitting government and media are supporting to NGOs/Donors which are producing trained schooling staff. In different decade’s reforms and innovations during education policies and environment, the Government of Pakistan has tried to develop such environment in form of Pre-Service programs with help of US-AID. These programs should be appreciated for improvement in society, however in all other areas it needs to take serious consideration and sustainability of new initiatives.

Steps need to be taken for Teacher's Education in Pakistan

v  The Public and Private institutions should make strong learning process by providing reference books and course outlines to faculty members. All institutions should provide training facilities to make strong system.
v  All institutions should expand the network of internet and computer skills to produce quality, so that they can learn and get training through videos and audios.
v  They should introduce new scientific techniques with help of IT department to produce quality to achieve upcoming goals.
v  All Public and Private Institutions should monitor and review the teacher’s ability and teaching approach/techniques/methods during class time on regular basis to improve accordingly.
v  The Higher Management of all institutions should have a review and monitor the instructions/process flow is being followed by all staff members to maintain the education policy standards.
v  It needs to have such collaborative environment/training centers of Public and Private institutions that staff members of all level can participate and get benefits from training seminars according to their skills(training schedule and participants should be declared monthly, quarterly, bi-annual or annual basis).
v  All faculty staff themselves should make strategies to educate students according to policy.
v  It needs to have good job opportunities so that they can perform well.

The Educators

All above issues and suggestions should be addressed during management meetings to have one education system all over the country, quality for students, improvement/ betterment in future.

Free Online Education in Pakistan

Online Education in Pakistan- Computer Science

Free online education courses are equally participating to improve Pakistan’s current culture. Since we are running with new scientific techniques and methods so should take its benefits. Some institutions are providing facility of admissions for this purpose along with low tuition fee. It has been found that we are facing appalling situation because of having incapable teachers or not taking serious to educate children. However, technology has been resolving this issue and providing better solution in other words tutors are available at door step.

Here we shouldn't forget about University of People serving to provide undergraduate, higher degree programs free of cost with new techniques and technology for individuals all over the world. Courseware and Udacity are one of the best such platforms and have opened doors for nations by utilizing technologies to develop knowledge-based economy of the 21th century.

Institutions and Training Centers

“Allama Iqbal University” is located in Islamabad but offering different types of such services and has regional centers network all over the country. In collaboration with international universities, AIOU is offering many programs related different fields. If we go back to review the history of AIOU then would be able to know that in 1,999 started Diploma in Computer Science and in 2001 “Open Learning Institute of Virtual Education was approved. It has been decided to prepare material of diploma/semesters and development started gradually, from 2002 to 2003 it decided to conduct classes at main campus, Lahore, with the passage of time tried to reduce material cost.

Similarly “Virtual University” is providing same services through semester system and short term diplomas. The university helping its students time to time by providing handouts, DVDs of all lectures and other training materials. Keeping in view the trend to go abroad for studies and increasing in degree attestation demand “The Higher Education Commission (HEC)” is trying to facilitate to institutions, higher learning and general public through this system for degree attestation. For example we can get benefits of HEC scholarship or jobs by just logging www.das.hec.gov.pk and creating profile.

Approach to worldwide System

Online Education in Pakistan
Online Education in Pakistan

Here we shouldn't forget another example of 13 years old Pakistani girl Khadija who attended a local school in Lahore. She participated of doing 1st online course from Udacity and managed to complete it with highest distinction. She was recently interviewed by New York Times columnist Tom Friedman at World Economic Forum 2013 at Davos, Switzerland and represented her country all over the world in this field. During her session sponsored by Victor Pinchuk Foundation Khadija was the featured guest. She was joined on stage at WEF by Bill Gates, Larry Summer.

Summary

The quickest and the most cost-effective way to access to get knowledge at all levels are through free electronic study centers, colleges and universities. Students can take classes sitting at homes in our country. The government and all stakeholders should focus on our rural areas to promote electronic knowledge and case studies. Further, there should be special training platforms for teachers so that they can introduce students with new technology and techniques.

Public and Private School Education in Pakistan - Educators

Current Private and Public School Education-Pakistan

I believe on the statement “Education for all” but sometime little bit confused on believing it because unable to give answers of some questions such as a) Are all children going to school?  b) Has the state a strong learning system? c)  Has the nation one education system? d) Are we trying for betterment in future? Are our institutions providing quality? We have to realize that the nation has poor education system as compare to other countries of this region. Millions of children are not going to schools and have to go for labor work. The nation has divided into two major categories (Private schools for rich people and Public schools for poor people).

Supporters of Private Educational Institutions in Pakistan

Private School Education
Private School Education

First, it has been observed most of parents believe and argument that “Private Institutions are successful by providing following features but Public have failed.
v  Good Results
v  Good Facilities
v  Discipline
v  Student Personality
2nd I had to attend father’s day at my son’s private school and listened speech of Chief Guest (a politician) against public culture/system (in the end all participant clapped). I came back to home and tried to know the reason for, why these people trying to divide our learning system? Why these people are looking their institutions as business point of view instead of educating? Why today’s parents don’t want to send their children for government schools, most probably they want to listen as “Dad and Mom” instead of “Abu and Ami”. These parents are trying to underestimate “Urdu” language and giving importance to “English”. It is common understanding that an English medium student from private school is considered more intelligent (even if English student has not knowledge).

Weaknesses of Private School Education or Schooling in Pakistan

Corruption involved in Private Shooling
Corruption involved in Private Shooling
The most painful thing that no resolution has been passed or the government policy for private system in Pakistan. For example, if I want to open a private education school then no certification is required, I just need business point and faculty members to start my business. I will do try to public as much as I can and will earn accordingly. After 10 years I will be able to have a political statement as “My School has a standard” in other words middle and lower class children wouldn't be allowed to enter because only high class people will be able to pay all dues and expenses. I will have strong position and understanding with concern board administration/faculty members (involved in sense of corruption) so would be able to get results according to my desires. Resultant,
v  I will earn as much as I want
v  Board administration (involved members in corruption) will also earn
v  Parents will satisfy with results
v  Not have Quality

Role of Government for One Education System in Pakistan

Let's discuss interesting ground realities and other side of picture.
Govt. Role for Education System in Pakistan
Govt. Role for Education System in Pakistan
From 1947 we have experience of different national education policies, the every new government has changed the direction of these policies and the poor administration of public schooling is unable to run accordingly. The teachers are unable to run with new scientific techniques so they should be trained. They have their own tuition centers/ academies to earn other than salaries.

 Suggestions:

We have some suggestions for one education system in Pakistan
v  The government should increase GDP at 4% to meet goals
v  It needs to expand network of public institutions/ schools in rural areas along with urban
v  The NGOs and all stakeholders should try to re-open all public schools which have affected and during terrorist attacks. Parents should send their children to these institutions
v  The government should take action against private learning system and pass resolution accordingly.
v   Pakistan media should play an important role to promote one education system
v  All teachers should be trained so that they can introduce all students with new scientific techniques.

Importance of Education in Pakistan-Knowledge is Power

Essay on Education in Pakistan-Speech

“Mom, I don’t want to go to school” The statement is painful and harsh for parents. Knowing the importance of education in Pakistan, millions of children are out of schools and have to go for labor work. Even though the government, parents, teachers and media are trying to focus on its awareness in all over the country. We should believe in Knowledge is Power and promote for betterment of our future. On the other hand religion Islam has strongly focused on its importance for human development as our Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has expressed as

v  To get knowledge is compulsory for men and women
v  Get knowledge from nursery to grave

Our system is being overlooked and monitored on both the provincial and federal level, according to our Constitution under Article 25-A, its responsibility of government to provide free and quality education in Pakistan falling under age 5 to 16 years.

Beyond the Marks/Grades

Knowledge is Power
Knowledge is Power
It is common concept in our society that a student having good marks is considered an intelligent and brilliant but it need to know how he has passed and got these marks. The importance of education in Pakistan will be realized when he will go for research or practical, so we should focus especially on quality instead of just passing marks and getting grades. Unfortunately our institutions and training centers are based on corruption so need to be getting rid of it on urgent basis.

Career Build

Career Building
Career Building
The different institutions have story and are playing an important role to build their student careers and trying to provide quality resources accordingly. It helps to develop career after getting degree or diploma from government and private institutions. The companies are looking for brilliant students for their manufacturing and production strategies and decision making. It will show the right way to go forward for career advancement in society, once student has good background can grow his/her career easily with handsome salary package. Some students are interested to focus on technical training for their own business and serving accordingly.

Character Build

Education means training of moral and character development of human personality, our schooling system not only building career of people but also helping to grow their character; a qualified person has ability to solve problems under pressure with the help of social skills. It is providing power of decision making under different environment and culture. The government and media are trying to work together for building training and development centers in society.

Time Counter

Time Restraint
Time Restraint
It helps to manage all things within calculated time frame e.g. If I have given an assignment which has to be returned within 10 days but I have no ideas, ability then will be unable to finish my assignment within given time period. If a student is looking himself at CEO position and doing struggle continuously then it will provide the right direction to set his goals within 10 years.

Sex education in Urdu- Pakistani Girls

Sex in Pakistan

It is fact that educated people always make more money than uneducated and enjoying the life all over the world. Pakistan has been identified one of the highest illiteracy rates and pointed as 2nd name in the list of population of children out of school. Pakistan has rank 113th out of 120 countries of the world related literacy rate. By viewing this rate of illiteracy we are able to observe "Sex Education" in Pakistan. Most of the people in Pakistan are not aware and even the definition of Sex Education. Sex education is most important for every nation health and better future as well as for Pakistan nation.

Sex environment
Sex environment
Due to advancement of scientific methods and technology, human life can’t be treating only as an act of biology. Since we are living in scientific decades and ultimately have questions in our mind e.g. how and where do babies come from? If a girl suddenly starts bleeding in a seminar then what should do? A 16 years old girl gets married but was not educated even basics? as human beings we have sexual nerves in our nature, Wikipedia explain it as “Sex in Pakistan is instruction on issues relating to human sexuality, including human sexual anatomy, sexual reproduction, sexual activity, reproductive health, emotional relations, reproductive rights and responsibilities, abstinence, and birth control. Common avenues for sex education are parents or caregivers, formal school programs, and public health campaigns”.

Sex Awareness in Pakistani Girls

From above statement I have come to know that it includes many emotions in “sex education” as well as human sexual attitude and behavior. Different countries have different sexual environment and sex education accordingly but in Pakistan it is found that young population is not aware about biological and psychological changes at the time of puberty so youngsters have to face problems. Approximately all religions have instructed about sex education and sexual behavior outside of marriage. It needs to be expanding the network of this broad term “sex education” to Pakistan young bodies and media, newspaper and television can play an important role for this purpose.

Source of Sex information in Pakistan

We are aware about that Pakistan youngsters feel guilty, puzzling while sharing sexual information with others and are confused about exploration, and they always want to find at least one secret source for this information because the parents, guardians don’t want to share their experience with them. But this has to be sure bearing cultural, religious values and sensitivities of people mind. The other group of Pakistan society concentrates that either sex education should be promoted or not because most of young boys and girls view and take this for negative use only, either sex education should be at school level or graduate only.

Sex activity reaction
Sex activity reaction

Suggestions:

We are living in modern world and the purpose of our discussion is not to get youth more sexual and vulgar but at least they should have basic information about sex so that they can react accordingly in life instead of going to wrong way. Pakistan nation should have to face reality and should get sex education because due to illiteracy rate can’t afford longer to ignore it. We must have to promote sex education in the limit of religious and cultural values and have to change concept as “tauba tauba”. But after getting sex education youngsters should not be take and use it for negative purposes. The government and all other stakeholders should take the step of promoting sex education in society.

The "Technical Education" in Pakistan has always been important for economy and all its technicians are playing an important role in technical field as compare to other nations of the world.

Technical Environment in Institution
Technical Environment in Institution

Now our institutions are struggling to produce brilliant minds by using information technology and new techniques. After getting degrees of engineering from technical education institutions students are providing solids results, we have an example of Pakistan Sialkot city where lot of technicians are working on large scale. The government and other stakeholders are equally responsible to expand this network County wide.

Educational Institutions
Educational Institutions

Educational Institutions

The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) is one of the best technical institutions of Pakistan and serving since long time. The foreign students are taking advantages from these institutions and getting degrees of engineers and technicians. The government centers are offering short term and long term technical courses and issuing certified diplomas. These institutions have experimental and practical resources so that students can do their research and experiments.

Advantages of Technical Education

The different companies are taking advantage of these technicians’ students and introducing new techniques in their manufacturing, production, strategies and decisions. We have to accept that without using new techniques organizations will suffer accordingly so by keeping view this fact business sector and the government are trying to develop good environment. Some companies have practice of doing technical training of their employees to get solid and good output in information technology and other departments.

Challenges for Technical Education in Pakistan

Technical education in Pakistan is suffering and has to face some problems as following.

v  In Pakistan learning and training centers have no as much facilities for students as should be.
v  Due to lack of faculty members and other arrangements in classes these institutions are facing same problems
v  Some learning points have not trained teachers who can introduce the students with new techniques.
v  The private centers are expensive so a poor child is unable to become a technician through private institutions.
Education budget in Pakistan
Education budget in Pakistan

Suggestion:

v  The government should review the budget for this system and higher management should review the standards on regular basis.
v  To provide skilled teachers and improve abilities, training and technical sessions should conduct at organizational level for teachers with new techniques
v  There should be solid coordination process flow between management and students for good feedback
v  The management should conduct a survey and evaluation process to maintain the good standards country wide.
v  The companies should provide such environment to students so that their priority should to go for such knowledge after getting degrees/diplomas.
v  There should be struggle for participation of Private Sector in training activities at Management level.

Pakistan has to expand this network for strong economic structure and bright future. The government and other stakeholders should come forward to take this decision.

Online Business Education of Pakistan-MBA

Trends of Online Business Plan &Education

The degrees of BBA and MBA in Pakistan are being offered in same style with contents in the western countries but little bit different challenges have to face by institutions and students. However online business culture in our country is also playing an important role as well as in Western countries. Globally, different countries have special criteria and degrees in this regard. Pakistan Youth
Pakistan Youth

Due to lack of entrepreneurial culture most of students having degrees of MBA in Pakistan are waiting and running for jobs, only few are focusing to stand at their own and trying to develop online business culture in the county. The government and other stakeholders are unable to produce fruitful results; they should come forward to create such environment for graduate students.

Benefits of BBA/MBA

Another class of students is in favor of stand at their own instead of surviving in the job, for this purpose they always focus to do BBA, MBA and other degrees. By getting these degrees an individual can start at small scale level with new techniques, ideas and training. The students have creative minds for good manufacturing and production so are able to play an important role especially in “Marketing and Finance”. They are able to target their customers easily as well.

The Role of Educational Institutions

Some institutions of are interested to expand this fields with quality figure, they are going to offer degrees in MBA, BBA, technical, economics and other science subjects. By taking the advantage of brilliant minds of students institutions are affiliating with higher level and expanding their networks. In such a way management can expand the network of such environment and strategic, planning and leadership.

Business educational institutions
Business educational institutions
They are also offering short term courses along with long term programs executive training e.g. Lahore University of Management Science (LUMS) is one of the best such institution which producing good business minds in Pakistan. Challenges for Women Education in Pakistan - Pakistani Girls

Women Empowerment-Pakistani Girl's Education

Pakistani Women Education has strong role in improving our system and culture, but still have to face pressure in different decades from 1947 directly and indirectly. We have observed that near 62 percent girls are out of school as compare to boys 27 percent. The government and other stakeholders are struggling at different platforms for female education /wrights in the country. They are performing well to make strong role in economy and other fields of life. In this article we will discuss about standard and different education barriers in Pakistan for females.

    Importance of Women Education

Women as Leader
Women as Leader
In Islam a woman has full right to get education and there should not be any restriction at all levels. Any human society can’t suffer without mental development of females. It is very important to connect social relations on the basis of equality with others. A society is responsible to provide quality learning and training opportunities to children.

Pakistani Girl's Education and Literacy Rate

The problems of women’s education started with independence of Pakistan in 1947. It has been observed increasing literacy rate at 49 percent by 1992 for boys but was just 22 percent for girls but fast increment after 2000. According to UN survey in 1990 only 30 girls of primary schools were present out of every 100.

    Economic Benefits through Female Education

Women's role in economy
Women's role in economy

Today a large number of females are working in different sectors, industries and have significant impact on economic development by providing desired results. They should provide all opportunities to offer services in all fields of life by ignoring gender inequality in society.

Barriers to Women’s Education in Pakistan

There are various barriers in Pakistan as following.
v  In rural areas they are considering as an asset and males have right to take decision about their lives.
v  Poor families are unable to afford and send their girls to get education due to poverty and social values.
v  Millions of girls are out of schools due to family pressure
v  Parents are preferring boys on girls.
Women issues in Pakistan
Women issue in Pakistan

The gender discrimination is course for Pakistan and creating many problems. Recently, we have an example of Pakistan’s brave daughter “Malala Yousaf Zai” who fought against extremists and terrorists. Some areas like FATA, North Waziristan and other parts of KPK are affected through terrorism. The girls are threatened by extremists and terrorists; they are not allowed to go for training even for shopping. From 1947 in different decades maximum girl’s schools have destroyed during terrorism and extremism in these areas.

Suggestions to improve Female Education in Pakistan

After analyzing situation of in Pakistan, we conclude that government; society and NGO’s have to come forward to take this matter on priority. By viewing the background, standards and barriers to education we want to suggest following steps for all concern stakeholders
